After getting situated in the room and wondering how the hell we were going to sleep four people, we started to sit and figure some things out. Again, we were clueless as to how this worked. There was a king-sized bed, a small couch that pulled out into a twin-sized bed, and about 18 inches between each of them and the walls to walk. We got a little worried that we really were going to have to sleep in some weird arrangement. The Boy volunteered to sleep on the balcony each night, but we were pretty sure that wasn’t allowed. There was this thing in the ceiling that looked like it could open up, but we didn’t have a key to unlock it. Who did we have to call? All that stuff.
Travel to another continent is probably never easy. As part of the package we booked, our travel was scheduled by the cruise line. We got the airfare for free from Las Vegas, but were at the mercy of Royal Caribbean as the dates and times went. This meant a couple of things: we would have to fly basically overnight (probably would have anyway) and we would not get to go early or leave late in order to spend more time in Barcelona, our origination and destination port.
This was easily the biggest trip either of us had ever planned. We are talking about twelve days of cruising to go along with a day traveling each way and a night each way in Las Vegas. All four of us. Suffice it to say that a week away with just the two of us in the past is the previous record, so this was a little bit bigger.
So, apparently the stock market took a little plunge yesterday to levels not seen since, wait for it, (gasp!), August. Of this year. I saw a lot of people blaming this on the election the day before. For those of you who don’t know, President Barack Obama won re-election that day.
So, what we have is a political event that took place a day before a dip in stock prices. Some folks want to attribute that drop to the lack of confidence in American companies because of who our president is. That’s fine, even if it is dubious, based on the small sample size and the logical progression I’m about to follow.
Stock prices are based on, essentially, how individual investors feel about a company. If you...
We start the show with a discussion of food. What is Taco Bell up to lately? Then we move on to discuss homeless guys providing wifi in Austin, Texas during South by Southwest. Finally, there is talk of favorite movie soundtracks.
