What a Nerd
So today, I happen to run into Mark Fox, head coach of the basketball team here at Nevada, as I am prone to do on occasion. He’s got his car door open, and sort of half closes it to let me by, excuses himself, and I pass. I get about six feet from him, turn back, and look at him. I say, “Hey.” He looks at me like he’s ready to defend himself. I introduce myself, and he smiles. He tells me (well, actually he introduced himself back, to which I laughed) that he enjoyed my pictures of the basketball team, and the email I sent him about The Girl’s basketball. So what do I do? I ask him if he’s looked at any more pictures I put up. Talk about putting him on the spot. He says he hasn’t, but he would. I’m already thinking I’m a tool, so I decide to eject. I say, “Well, you guys have been a thrill to watch this year. Keep it up.” He smiles, and I bail. The worse thing is, every person I’ve talked to tonight, I wanted to tell them I met him officially today. What’s wrong with me?
