Inside Nevada Politics Returns

Finally, we’ll see a return to sane non-hackery in the political blogging world with the bully pulpit to match. Anjeanette Damon returns to Inside Nevada Politics, the RGJ’s political blog featuring the writings of its political beat reporter. The site is unmatched in popularity in this part of the state, and actually gives us provocative and fair coverage with insider access to a lot of the workings of the state’s government. I look forward to regular postings. I don’t look forward to Billy Joel and Steve from IT finding it, however. They tend to stink up every place they hang.

Ryan JerzRyan Jerz is an all-around good guy who shoots photos and video, builds websites, and works in athletics at the University of Nevada, Reno. He received a Masters Degree in 2007 from the University of Nevada, Reno's Reynolds School of Journalism.

It is nice to see them back up. I wonder how long it will take to recapture their former readership? I wish they would use a full feed for RSS though.

I’m sure Damon will incur the wrath of JLA at some point, but did you have to insult The Piano Man too.

Full feed for RSS = fewer pageviews for ads. Don’t look for the RGJ to implement that anytime soon. I’d love to be wrong, however.

As for Mr. Joel, I was referring to a comment by johnny from Discontents for the inspiration. Of course, the JLA followup just solidified it. I’ve been waiting to use it ever since.

Yeah, we all need to hear the “At the Nugget” theme a few more times.

JLA does have a slight resemblance to Joel, just not the hang for words.

Again, Jerz, stop trying to stalk me. You won’t find my real IP.

Try to stay on topic, IJ. This post had nothing to do with you. Also, I don’t find stalking funny. Please don’t make jokes about it here. If you’re referring to my claims that you are affiliated with UNLV, then call it what it is—an attempt to hold you accountable for your words. It’s not stalking. I would rather gouge my eyes out than go near that campus.

Do you think I would still be provoking you on if you knew who I am? Seriously dude – your exchanges with and pursuance of JLA combined with your weird stalking issues are putting you in the “creep yet also annoying” category. It was fun at first… but can’t you stick to your own blog, and maybe keep JLA with you?

Which is it? Do I not know who you are, or am I a stalker? You people are insane with the logic.

“You won’t find my real IP.”

Really? Same IP as last night’s comment: 70.173.47.6

You’re an awesome spoofer.

And it’s the same tonight. If I were less lazy I would do it now. Being Ruby and Python and Java literate makes IP programming fun. http://tinyurl.com/create.php

Look, if you want to “do” a blog, write. If you have something interesting to say, we are all ears. If you are a journalist, act like one. Be sincere.

But for God’s sake, stop goading JLA and generally picking fights on other blogs for no reason. Stop the personal attacks and back up your snide comments with facts and interesting observations.

IJ,

This last comment is what upsets me about you. Your admitted disinterest in reading my blog makes you completely ignorant of my motives and my reasons for “goading” JLA. I have stated my purpose over and over and over, yet you openly ignored what I had to say, and now you act like I’m coming out of nowhere with this stuff. I told you a LONG time ago to do a little research and you decided to deride that comment because you were far too cool to read my blog. Fine. Just don’t act like you have a clue about me, then. What’s funny about it is that you sound exactly like JLA himself by offering all this help to make my online life easier. This is the best it’s ever been, and I’m enjoying myself quite a lot right now.

As for your calling on me to “stop the personal attacks,” all I can say is “ditto.” The best example of this was when I called on Gleaner readers to stop playing the horserace game and start looking at exactly what people stood for. You spent a few comments trashing me, then when Myrna the Minx actually defended my comment, you said, “Yeah, Jerz had a point, but he said it like an ass,” or something along those lines. To me, that was the end of IJ as the moral superior. Let’s also not forget when I repeatedly tried to keep a comment thread about the actual issue, only to be riddled with insults by you over Gibbons’ refusal to cow to NOW.

I will say this, however. For some reason, maybe based on a few comments I can’t pinpoint right now, I think we could have a few good conversations. Unfortunately, by acts both of us have committed, I don’t really want to talk about anything with you. So there it is. Also, I happen to participate in every blog that I care to because it’s a medium I believe in. It’s not about self-promotion, it’s really about open participation by everyone, including those that act as experts. I will not turn into the Gleaner, who I’ve seen comment a grand total of one time on his own blog since I’ve been reading it. I wish that guy would engage his readers directly and reiterate points he makes. Instead, that blog’s comments are a circus filled with freaks. That’s unfortunate, because I think it’s the smartest blog in the state, even though I rarely agree with its positions.

There you go—the short version of why I do all this. I don’t expect you to care much, but I’m serious about it. I don’t plan on going anywhere. I plan on continuing to try and make Nevada’s blogs fun, worthwhile, and relevant.

Finally, your link didn’t work.
