University of Nevada basketball player Ramon Sessions has announced that he will remain in the NBA draft and forgo his final year of eligibility. Sessions, from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, had been the Pack’s starting point guard since his freshman season.
I’m going to miss Ramon because I genuinely like his style. He was a quiet kid who had the tendency to just get his job done. He had the skills and the ability to run some serious smack at opponents, many of whom he just abused with his consistent play. He wasn’t the type to break a guy down, but he was also the type who couldn’t easily be taken out of his game. He always got it done, and this past season, Ramon stepped up and took control of a team that had much better scorers on the floor just about all the time. Who could ever forget this? I won’t. And the dunk he threw down in garbage time to make sure Zags fans knew what hit them was fantastic, too.
On June 28 we’ll know if Ramon will get the guaranteed contract. Until then, he’ll be the one who has to sleep at night not knowing whether he just made the best move, or biggest mistake, of his life.
