Last night The Boy’s baseball team had their awards banquet. It was a great little party, and completely indicative of how cool his coaches are. they held contests for the players and let them lob water balloons at the coaches. Then they presented trophies. The head coach had great things to say about every kid.
But, of course, one kid stood out completely. The Jerz kid. He’s a hell of a player, and will only get better if he chooses to continue with baseball. Of course, as kids get older, stupid games like football get in the way, but hopefully this one will be so attached to baseball that won’t matter. He’s fast, he can hit, he can field, and he can be tough when he wants to be. So what I’m telling all of you is to watch out. There aren’t many Jerz kids around that you’ll be hearing about in the next fifteen to twenty years on television. So when the name pops up, you’ll know you heard it here first. The site of him autographing a ball will become household someday, and hopefully when that happens, permalinks will still work back to this site. If not, you’re screwed because he’ll also be the type of kid who’ll blow you off if you try to tell him that you read my site when he was just a punk. How do I know? Because that’s what I’d do, and then I’d make fun of you to my friends. Or I’d promise you tickets at will call, only to blow off leaving them there so you’re hosed – after paying for parking. So leave him alone and let him just play ball, for the love of God. And if he happens to be inclined to recline, it’s just because he needs a little Barry…errrrr, The Boy time.
