Nightmares

I woke up a few times last night. I had this vision. It was a great photo. At least, from my dream it was great. It was Marcellus Kemp, between two Idaho players, both with arms raised. Kemp was bent at the waist, ball in his hands, looking up at the hoop, which was in the shot as well. The Idaho players both had bent knees, blocking his path to the hoop. They were whistled for a foul on the play, and Kemp didn’t finish, but the photo was magnificent. I had it. It was a potential wall hanger, especially when Kemp goes to the NBA. And I had it. I’d love to show it to you. But my taint-licking, pole-gnawing compact flash card locked up my computer last night when I plugged it in, and when I rebooted, the card was wiped completely freaking clean. I lost EVERYTHING from last night’s game. Shit. SHIT!

AHHHHHH!!!!

I almost cried for you just then!

Do you plug your cards into a reader or just plug your camera directly into your computer via USB cable?

I use a card reader, simply because it’s USB 2.0 instead of 1.1 or whatever the slow one is. It sucked, and I’ll never forget that shot. It was brilliant, but I’ll never prove it.

There are tools to recover photos from cards… have you tried one?

I did not. But the card said the entire free amount of space was available. Wouldn’t that mean it was dust? If it had read like it was full but the card looked empty I would have gone to any length to get those photos. Instead, I tried a few things, reboots, etc, and got no luck, so I went into “is the card hosed” mode and took more pictures. The card is fine.

Sorry man.

But for the record, I have card readers freeze up on me all the damn time. I only use direct USB connect from camera to computer as a result.
