Nevada looked strong in their dismantling of Hawaii last night. They built a lead and continued to capitalize on it. The Pack never let up, as the main scorers played until the final seconds in what was at one point a 24-point ballgame.
Mark Fox looks like he’s trying to build some serious stamina in this team. Or maybe he’s trying to get some guys some confidence, because they’ve played without it for awhile now. The team also looked a lot more aggressive on both ends of the floor. Chad Bell is playing like a man on a mission, and even though he’s not lighting up the scoreboard, when he’s in, there is a different team on the floor. He’s becoming the motivational leader, and I think it’s a role he likes. He was smiling last night as the student section chanted his name. It was quite a sight.
he officiating has been weird lately. They are letting a lot of ugliness happen. Last night it felt like they would have called fouls, but were stuck watching the game, and before they could blow their whistles, they realized they would look stupid for the late calls. Even some of the calls they did make were late. It was odd.
Next up is Louisiana Tech, the WAC leader, on the road. If the Pack pulls it out, and they will if last night’s team shows up, they’ll have the inside track to winning the conference.
