Aaaaaaaahhhhh yeah! I done did another one for y’all. I had an idea, then scrapped it for something I saw on the internet today. It’s a damn shame, too. My stories would have been good, but one of you out there ruined it for everybody.

Listen up, and feel free to crack my ass on this one. It’ll surely get some malcontents riled up.

It’s about time!

Oh wait. I’m in it.

Ah, but here’s the rub: I do not claim “Field of Dreams” to be the best “baseball movie” ever made. I claim it to be my favorite “MOVIE-movie” ever made. The best baseball movie is hands-down “Major League.” A classic.

Continuing to listen…

“The Postman” sucked major ass. This was horrifying, because the book is excellent. If you are ever looking for something to read, it’s worth a look. Costner also ruined golf with “Tin Cup” which is achingly bad.

I own all of Madonna’s shows on DVD/LaserDisc, and am partial to “Ciao Italia” myself. I’m such an 80’s whore.

Costner said something far worse than “nice” when telling Madona what he thought… I’m pretty sure that he said “neat”, which is about 100 times geekier (yes, I have that on DVD as well).

Ah see… there you go. We both agree that “Major League” is the top of the baseball heap. And this one is sure to get me creamed… I also think “Mr. Baseball” with Tom Selleck was a good look at Japanese baseball, which is so very different than ours (but much the same as well). NIPPON HAM FIGHTERS RULE!!

To me, “Field of Dreams” is NOT a baseball movie, though there is a lot of baseball in it. Nope, to me, the film is about getting a calling in your life, then forging ahead to answer it despite the illogic of it all. The baseball is just a metaphor for something much greater (and what that might be is up to the viewer to decide). I agree that if you look at it solely as a “baseball movie” it is sappy and sorely lacking… but I see much deeper themes in it, and what I’ve taken away from seeing it started me on a path that changed how I look at life. Not many films manage that.

And besides, the kidnapping scene with James Earl Jones is funny as hell.

25 February 2004 – Kevin Costner ends feud with Madonna
We mentioned the Costner-Madonna incident in our previous news item, but it seems the feud between the two has been resolved:
“Hollywood actor Kevin Costner has made up with pop queen Madonna after she humiliated him in her 1991 documentary In Bed With Madonna (Truth Or Dare). The Open Range star, 49, was “initially hurt” when he saw Madonna’s furious reaction to Costner telling her he enjoyed her “neat” show, when he visited the superstar backstage. But the showbiz feud came to an end when Costner decided to take his daughter along to one of Madonna’s concerts. Costner explains, “A lot of people thought it was strange that I’d want to go to her concert. But my daughter Lily is a singer and I didn’t want to keep my kids from seeing Madonna because I had my feelings hurt, or I was semi-embarrassed or whatever. “We were sitting in the audience and Madonna dedicated a song to me. I thought it was very classy.” The Oscar-winner has never thanked the Material Girl for her offering, but regards it as concluding their dispute. He continues, “I’ve never talked to her about it or written her a thank you note. I thought it very brave on her part and I respected it. “What was really cool was that my kids heard that dedication from Madonna. They knew we were going to see someone that in one moment in time, there was some difficulty between us. Madonna didn’t make a big deal about it but it was a big deal to me and I appreciate it. “I like her and I think she is an important person in our entertainment history. Maybe some day we will chat together.” (source: Celebrity Gossip, thanx to MadonnaTribe)
