Fun, conversations, and occasional journalism from Reno, Nevada

Absolutely brutal critique of bloggers at the convention, but almost impossible to argue with. I’m of the opinion that it’s not a contest, but I’m also of the opinion that the five people mentioned here were five too many for Nevada to send to the convention. Nothing was interesting enough to spend the money and time on, but such is the state of the media.

Myrna did fine in my book. But, you and I represent different market demographics. Her stuff from Denver interested me and others and didn’t interest others like you. You may not have had any interest in the Denver scene being written on by our writers from Nevada, but others did and enjoyed the coverage. No praise or blame involved in being representative of different market demographics.

I don’t think Anon Guy’s characterization was fair or accurate. Probably because he was (a) premature and (b) not picturing the logistical circumstance.

I’m curious, Dirty Penny. What was reported on that you couldn’t have found elsewhere or at a different time? The Jill Derby interview could easily have been done from home, and same with David Bobzien. David and Myrna are good friends.

I don’t blame her for going, but I said before that it was an ego trip, and I still believe that. I’m sure it was very difficult to navigate through the mess that the convention was on the ground. I don’t envy being in that position at all. But again, I just wonder what the point was.

There were reports from http://renobama.blogspot.com, Anjeanette Damon’s blog, Veronica Frenkel’s blog that I also read. Damon and Myrna’s posts were always linked at twitter (I follow those two people).

I guess the point was to share her own perspective and sense of things to a specific market of people who are informed and entertained by her work.

It’s ALL an ego trip until awakening from the illusion that there is such an “entity” in existence. There is no such thing as an “ego”. But, there is such a thing as “color”, “theater”, and “being a character”. That’s partly what you’re doing and what Myrna is doing and all the rest.
