You, yes you(!) can see right through newsrooms with a new toy called SpinSpotter. By downloading a Firefox extension, you can track which news stories are rife with talking points from one camp or another. And here’s the beauty: it will even tell you whether a news story has language strikingly similar to language included in a press release. You can also add your own input, making it actual crowdsourced journalism. I wonder, though, if it’s even worth trying to employ this on a local level.
