Despite being one of the founders of Outside.in, which I consider a terrible site for local news, Steven Johnson is fast becoming one of my favorite reads. Everything Bad is Good For You was a really interesting look at how bad a rap electronic media get for their roles in developing the minds of young people. In this piece, he talks about how Candy Land is so overly simplistic and random that it isn’t teaching kids to think at all. I can attest that it fast becomes a game relegated to the back of the closet when you have young ones. I always found it excruciatingly boring to play, especially when you draw a card that sets you back over half the board and the game continues for another 20 minutes.
