I like this. It explains why some things just work, while other things (things that people try to “organize”) don’t. In a recent press release, Bob Conrad and I demonstrated flaws in the Twitter Vote Report, a “grassroots” effort to aggregate problems at polls in the latest election. We both appreciated the effort, but saw that when you take the unorganizable and try to organize it (and mix in the arbitrary following of rules by the organizers themselves) you fail almost before you start. The cause might be noble, but the execution is impossible.
