Post of the Month: July 2008: Fixie dorks and fashion statements
This month saw some interesting things happen on this site and off. But since this is the Post of the Month post, you’ll get the online activites. If you’d like to know the behind the scenes, feel free to subscribe to the newsletter.
Let’s start with the runners-up.
First, what month could be complete without a story on Terri Patraw? It seems like none of them, at this point. So, Another Terri Patraw Update has to make the list. I’m ashamed that I took down the posts. I’m ashamed that she and her slimy lawyer, through their extortion tactics, got over on me. I’m also disappointed that she continues to get coverage in the local fishwrap, but there is not even a look into...
Post of the Month: June 2008: Somewhat sappy dad post
It was a somewhat sparse month here at mrjerz.org, but the quality was still there. The forthcoming newsletter has been weighing on my mind. What should I do? Should I promote the entire reach of my empire, or should I just keep it to this site and what goes on here. Obviously it will be a learning process. One section will undoubtedly be this post. It’s got a permanent home in the newsletter.
The choices this month were good ones, but there really was just one that could take it.
First up, Which color profile should I use for online photos?. Not only was this a test that I actually conducted instead of guessing and all that, but the comments were graced by someone who...
Post of the Month: May 2008: What's your Reno earthquake experience?
The Post of the month for May was another tough call. This time, it really came down to the dogs. Their vote was crucial.
There were two contenders with one real longshot. The longshot was Priva-ate Eyes. It obviously couldn’t win due to the meat of the post no longer actually being there (check the picture here) and notice the way I spelled “their.” Not the right way. That might resonate with some of you, but it might not. Rest assured, I know the proper usage. Other people do not, and that’s why I did it that way. The only reason that post was in the equation was the reaction it generated. Several people who matter a lot to me thought...
Post of the Month: April 2008: Ryan Jerz and friends visit the Republic of Molossia
April’s Post of the Month selection was a bit closer than I thought it might be. In fact, I actually wanted it to be something about Domingo Rivera, Cyber Lawyer, but was overruled when the little dog insisted with three sharp barks and a bite to my Achilles. I guess it was because this post meant an afternoon of me away from home, thus freeing up the little dog to shred any wayward piece of mail or even a Certificate of Achievement that The Girl might have brought home for accomplishing something her father could only have dreamed of in the third grade.
Anyway, about the trip to Molossia. It’s not often that a post is accompanied by a photo gallery, but...
Post of the Month: February 2008: Joey Gilbert headline draws attention
This was not the first choice for Post of the Month. But it did get noticed this month, and that makes it the most important one I did.
First, I think a little background is in order. I wrote about Joey Gilbert on January 31, so it had little time to gain any sort of influence over the process. As is my (and the dogs’) discretion, it qualifies as a February post for these purposes.
I chose to write about Joey Gilbert because he is a local person who made a name for himself nationally and still lives locally. I am also fascinated with both steroids and the way celebrities and athletes fall on hard times. Often, the two go hand in hand. With Joey...
Post of the Month: January 2008: The Caucus Raucous irks Barack...us
In an effort to bring the participants pf this site what they want—more of this site—mrjerz.org is beginning a new feature today: Post of the Month!
My Dogs: They will help decide the Post of the Month. The Post of the Month will be the site’s best post of the past month, as determined by me, you, my dogs, and anyone who tells me a post is “honor-worthy” either through a comment or email. I’ll even start keeping comments open on posts for a longer period than I have since I started turning them off. Yay for everyone!
This month’s top post is The Caucus...
